Sigmund - Sig and Kai are a closeted couple. Sigmund is usually the dominant one in the relationship, but the switch roles occasionally.
Vis - Vis treats him like  younger sibling. She was, at first, annoyed by his immaturity, but was won over after some time by his kindness.
Vern - Vern is something of a father figure to him. Vernus pushes him to be stronger and protects him from threats the others cannot handle.
Rosie - Rosie knows Kai as "Uncle" and looks up to him. He enjoys watching her when Vernus is away.

Additional notes

- Though Kaito is a soldier, be prefers not to kill unless absolutely necessary. He despises killing, and finds it difficult to bring death on anything he views as having a "personality."
- Kai does not eat eggs. As a Tengu, his finds it disgusting to use them as food.
- Kai considers his friends his family. He often wishes they all viewed each other the same way.
- Sigmund is more careful about keeping their relationship closeted than Kai. Kaito was raised in a culture were bi- and homosexuality are not considered unusual, and he fails to see why western culture has deemed it so.
- Kai has an appetite bigger than his stomach.
- He has a chronic stomach condition that tends to flair up when he's stressed. But it's easily medicated.
- He is somewhat easily disgusted, especially be rude behavior.
- When frustrated, Kai will use forms of meditation to keep calm. He rarely loses his temper.
- Even though Kai was born in Japan and spent many years there, he cannot read or write in Japanese. He was taken to Eaurope while he was still young (for his species), and can only communicate verbally in the language.

Short biography

    Kaito and his older brother were raised by their mother in a poor cave-town. Their mother succumbed to illness when they were young, and the brothers spent quite a few years homeless. When the feebler Kaito became ill of a chronic condition, his brother sought out anyone who could help them. One man offered to care for them both, if they accompanied him to Europe. They did, and Kaito was restored to health. The man who had taken them in was a leader of a religio-scientific cult, and the brothers became victims of abuse from one of elder the members on several occasions. Kaito's brother broke them out after finding out Kaito had been sharing in the abuse. Kaito was taken by his brother to the nearby St. Gabriel's cathedral, a hide-out for inhumans. When he awoke the next morning, his brother had vanished. Kaito spent many years looking for his brother. Kaito returned to the church after once again falling ill, only to be captured by a group of Nazis attempting to forcefully enlist inhumans just before the start of World War 2. He was put in a labor camp, along with Vis, an Alterbeing, and Sigmund, a Nazi soldier who defected while enlisted in the camp. All three escaped when the Chimera Corps ambushed the camp, and both Vis and Kaito enlisted as official members. His major goals remain to reconnect with his brother, and to settle down with his own family.
